GJN carried out specialist restoration works to the historic Arts and Crafts Shelter located within Kings Gardens, Southport.
Situated alongside the nine Victorian shelters, this distinctive structure required careful attention to detail to ensure consistency with the surrounding heritage
features while preserving its unique character.
As part of the restoration, GJN replicated the original Victorian concrete specification. Although the screed colour was matched to the neighbouring shelters, this
structure required an exposed grey granite chipping finish to accurately reflect the original Arts and Crafts design. The surface was carefully prepared and finished to maintain authenticity while
improving durability and long-term performance in a coastal environment.
All works were completed in line with heritage restoration best practice, ensuring the shelter retains its historical significance while being structurally sound and fit
for public use.
